Help Needed – Pendleton Fell Race

Race Organiser, Mike Eddleston, needs help at the Pendleton FR next Saturday, 24th August. Because the race falls on the Bank Holiday weekend this year, Mike’s band of helpers has been depleted so, if you can spare some time on Saturday to flag the course, act as marshal or help with registration, please contact Mike on 07951 424780 or mjeddleston@btinternet.com.

If you wish to race, there are still jobs you can help with, so get in touch.

Updated Palladium Points Tables

The Palladium Points tables for fell races have been updated. Out two captains, Dave Motley and Jean Brown are still leading by example, both having significant leads. There are a few more races to add, and please let me know of any that have been missed.

Junior Races; AGM, 29th Aug

UPDATED 17th AUGUST

The club’s annual meeting is traditionally preceded by a 5000m race at Seedhill track. This year, for the first time, it will also be open to any junior members that have achieved a qualifying time at Parkrun of 25mins or better. There will also be a 2 lap fun race for younger members.

The track race is scheduled for 7pm and the 2 lap ‘dash’ will take place around 6:45.

This is an excellent opportunity to test yourself in a proper track environment and I hope that you can come along (Don’t worry, you don’t have to go to the AGM!)

There’ll be no training from Spirit of Sport on this date

Chorley Park Series, Race 4, Wednesday 7th August.

A huge congratulations to George and Alice Pier who finished 1st boy and 1st girl in the final race of the Chorley Park Junior Series. This was a series of four races over the same course in Astley Park.
George came home in a time of 5:16 and Alice finished in a personal best of 5:50.
Wednesday’s result means that George and Alice are overall series winners (with Alice needing to win her last race outright to clinch the result).
Well done to both, a great example to our younger runners (and our seniors as well!)

Junior Summer Series; Final Results

That’s it folks; it’s all over!

The final results table is below; well done to all who took part and congratulations to our medal winners;

Grace Root (u8), Jackson McKay (u10), Ella Dorrington Levy (u10), Briony Holt (u12), Alice Pier (u14), Kenan Eti (u14) and Beth Quinn (u16).

The u16 boys category finished in a dead heat with George Pier and Jordan McDonald on the same score, having beaten each other twice. We’ve decided to make it a joint first, with a medal for both (we’ll change the rules next year to make sure it doesn’t happen again!)

Presentation will take place at Thursday training, at the start of the Autumn term, exact date tbc.

Widdop Junior Fell Race Results Wednesday 17th July

What a great turnout from the juniors with 19 taking part in the final summer series race at Widdop. Once again we saw some outstanding performances which resulted in 9 medals being won.

In the U8 race Grace Root finished 2nd girl to claim silver.

The U10 race saw a Clayton double gold with Jackson Mckay 1st boy and Ella Dorrington 1st girl. There were also good performances from Adam and Keira Stevenson, Roanna Holdsworth and Molly Hesketh.

Briony Holt was 1st girl and gold medal winner in the U12 race and also set a course record with team mate Eleanor Root finishing 2nd girl to claim silver. New to the junior ranks Daniel Bradley ran well to finish 4th boy.

The U14 race saw six juniors competing with Kenan Eti 3rd boy taking the bronze medal closely followed by Tom Bradley 4th, Simon Wilshaw 5th, Ryan Clarke 7th and Curtis Holt 8th. Alice Pier again finished 2nd girl to win silver.

Finally in the U16 race bronze went to Jordan McDonald for 3rd boy with George Pier 4th. Beth Quinn produced a strong finish to claim 2nd girl and silver.

It was great to see so many of you racing and the atmosphere at the presentation was something to behold with each Clayton junior receiving a very loud cheer from their team mates when being presented with their medal. A strong bond has developed between the juniors which is really great to see.

Well done to ALL of you.
