Mid Lancs Cross Country Results – Burnley

Saturday 26th October saw the Juniors out in force at the first Mid Lancs XC fixture of the season at Towneley Park, Burnley. In the younger age categories we saw some fine performances and results especially from Millie Stubbs in the U11 girls race. The U13 girls race saw new girl Alice Gane make her Clayton debut at cross country. In the U15 boys the competition is hotting up with Ryan Clarke now getting his rewards for the hard work he’s been putting in at training (watch out Kenan and Curtis)  With no team positions awarded to the U11’s it was left to the U13 girls and U15 boys to race their way to 4th place. Special mention to little Finley Stubbs who after losing a shoe continued to work hard through the mud and water in the U11 boys.

U11 Girls: Millie Stubbs 5th, Ella Dorrington 25th, Roanna Holdsworth 26th, Anna Ashworth 36th, Keira Stevenson 37th and Grace Root 42nd.

U11 Boys: Jackson McKay 17th, James Ashworth 20th, Adam Stevenson 36th and Finley Stubbs 47th.

U13 Girls: Briony Holt 10th, Eleanor Root 18th, Alice Gane 39th, Lucy Stevenson 57th. Team Result 4th.

U13 Boys: Tom Bradley 12th and Daniel Bradley 42nd.

U15 Girls: Alice Pier 15th.

U15 Boys: Kenan Eti 26th, Ryan Clarke 28th, Curtis Holt 29th, Alexander Townrow 43rd, Simon Wilshaw 47th. Team Result 4th.

U17 Girls: Beth Quinn 11th.

U17 Boys: Jordan McDonald 13th and George Pier 22nd.

Mid Lancs Cross Country – Towneley Park.

The first race of the Mid Lancs XC League is at Towneley Park, Burnley on Saturday 26th October.

Senior members:- Paul and Irene will have your race numbers.

Juniors you’ve no need to register for this race as I’ve already pre-registered most of you. I’ll issue you with a race number when you arrive at the park. The meeting point will be next to the playground near to where we meet for training on a Saturday morning.

Juniors please make sure you bring along to EVERY race the following items:

Club Vest, waterproof / windproof jacket, tracksuit bottoms, hat/buff, gloves, trail / fell shoes or cross country running spikes.

Also remember to bring a drink (not fizzy), a banana or cereal bar with you to have around 30 mins before you race. It’s important that you are fully prepared before you race.

Please make sure you arrive 45 mins before your race starts.

12:30pm, U11 Girls.

12:45pm, U11 Boys.

1:00pm, U13 Girls.

1:20pm, U13 Boys and U15 Girls.

1:40pm, U15 Boys and U17 Girls.

2:00pm, U17 Boys.

Red Rose Cross Country Results – Chorley

Saturday 19th October saw 18 of our juniors make the short journey to Astley Park, Chorley for race 2 in the Red Rose XC League. Once again we saw grit and determination from our juniors to claim some impressive individual and team results.

First off in the U11 boys was Jackson McKay coming home in 16th place.

The U11 girls claimed 6th place in the team results with Millie Stubbs 15th, Ella Dorrington 18th, Keira Stevenson 54th and Anna Ashworth 56th.

U13 boys Thomas Bradley 19th, Harry Mason 39th and Daniel Bradley 41st took 7th place in the team results.

The U13 girls were most impressive in securing 2nd in the team results. Leading the girls home was Briony Holt 4th, new girl Karina Ryckynska 10th, Eleanor Root 13th and Lucy Stevenson 61st.

U15 boys Curtis Holt finished 16th with Simon Wilshaw 30th.

U15 girls saw Alice Pier claim 14th place.

The U17 boys race saw Jordan McDonald come home in 17th place followed by George Pier in 23rd.

Finally in the U17 girls Beth Quinn continued her recent fine form by claiming 11th place.

Clayton Juniors in Recent Action

The juniors have again been in race action competing in cross country, fell and road.

Year 7 girl Eleanor Root has again been representing Skipton Girls High School in a number of cross country events where she’s been competing against year 7 & 8 girls and putting in some fine performances.

Keighley Schools XC 6th place. English Schools XC Cup 8th. School XC Malsis 7th.

At the recent Withins Skyline Junior Rat Runs Christopher Brown produced a brilliant run to claim 1st place in the U8 boys and in doing so set a new course record of 2:44.

Thomas Bradley put in a great performance to take 2nd place in the U14 boys race with brother Daniel coming home 17th U12 boy.

Brothers Leon and Thomas Passco continue to star on the road with both competing at the Vernon 4 mile road race in Preston. Leon finished in 8th place overall with Thomas 27th.

It’s great to see the juniors performing so well in all disciplines.

Junior Results Round Up.

The juniors have again continued to perform well at various races over the past week competing in Schools races and at Leigh in the first Red Rose XC fixture of the season.

Year 7 girl Eleanor Root took part in the Yorkshire Schools XC Races organised by Bingley Harriers. Representing Skipton Girls High School Eleanor competed against both Year 7 & 8 girls and finished in 6th place.

SCHOOLS XC RESULTS

Brothers Daniel and Thomas Bradley both representing Unity College took part in this year’s English Schools Fell Running Championships at Kendal the day after running at Leigh. Daniel competing in the year 7 race finished 41st boy with Thomas finishing 36th boy in the year 8/9 race.

ENGLISH SCHOOLS FELL RESULTS

On a glorious sunny day 17 juniors travelled to Leigh Sports Village to take part in the first Red Rose Cross Country fixture of the season. The juniors  were competing in all the junior age categories, claiming team results in the U11 boys, U13 girls and U15 boys. We saw a strong and determined attitude from all the juniors to do well on what was a very fast course. Thank you to the Parents for getting your young athletes to the race venue.

Under 11 boys: Jackson McKay 16th, James Ashworth 20th, Adam Stevenson 37th. Team result 6th.

Under 11 girls: Anna Ashworth 39th, Keira Stevenson 40th.

Under 13 boys: Thomas Bradley 19th, Daniel Bradley 48th.

Under 13 girls: Briony Holt 7th, Eleanor Root 25th, Lucy Stevenson 66th.         Team result 8th.

Under 15 boys: Kenan Eti 14th, Curtis Holt 18th, Ryan Clarke 26th. Team result 6th.

Under 15 girls: Alice Pier 16th.

Under 17 boys: Jordan McDonald 10th, George Pier 13th.

Under 17 girls: Beth Quinn 10th.

BOFRA – Latest Junior Results

Briony and Curtis Holt have again been in action in the BOFRA 2013 Championship races flying the Clayton flag at the Burnsall Fell Race and the Embsay Fell Race.

At the Burnsall Junior Fell Race Briony ran a great race to finish 2nd U12 girl, with Curtis also performing well to finish 7th U14 boy.

Embsay Junior Fell Race saw Briony as the sole Clayton representative and once again she didn’t disappoint finishing 2nd U12 girl to consolidate 3rd place overall in the series with one race left.

Well done to both of you.

Red Rose XC, Leigh, 28th September

The Red Rose Cross Country season begins on Saturday 28th September with the first fixture at Leigh Sports Village, Sale Way, Leigh, WN7 4JY. The course is quite flat and is made up of a mixture of playing fields, trail paths and a wooded area. A good introduction to cross country if you’ve not taken part before. I have already pre-registered a number of juniors and seniors who wish to compete in the series and I have your race number. If you’re not already registered you can register and pay £6 on the day which will allow you to compete in all the Red Rose fixtures.

Juniors please make sure you bring along to EVERY race the following items:

Club Vest, waterproof / windproof jacket, tracksuit bottoms, hat/buff, gloves, trail / fell shoes or cross country running spikes.

Also remember to bring a drink (not fizzy), a banana or cereal bar with you. It’s important that you are fully prepared before you race.

Meeting point is on the fields at the far side of the running track.

There are plenty of parking spaces at the Sports Village WN7 4JY.

Please arrive at least 45 minutes before your race starts.

The following seniors have been registered for this seasons Red Rose Cross Country League which begins at Leigh Sports Village on Saturday 28th September.

Numbers will be distributed at the first fixture.
Anymore athletes who wish to race will now have to register themselves and pay
on the day to run. The cost now pre-registration has closed for them is £6
whether they run 1 race or all 4.

Junior Results Round-Up

The juniors have been in action recently at various events.

Briony and Curtis Holt both starred at the Reeth Show in the latest round of the BOFRA race series. Briony, running in the U12 race finished 3rd girl and Curtis finished 8th boy in the U14 race.

REETH SHOW RESULTS

During the month of August two of our juniors have gained PB’s at the Burnley Parkrun.

Annabel Wilcock 27.25 and Lucy Stevenson 30.59

Sisters Eleanor and Grace Root ran in the Blacko Tower Fell Race. Eleanor finished a brilliant 2nd overall and 1st junior setting a course record of 10.05. Younger sister Grace also ran a great race to claim 2nd junior.

George and Alice Pier travelled to Whitworth to take part along with Claytons very own Dr. Ron Hill in the Andy O’Sullivan 30 years of Promotions 5k race. George continued his recent good form by posting a PB of 19.47 for 5k to take 8th place overall and 2nd junior male. Alice also ran well to finish 4th female and 2nd junior female.

WHITWORTH 5K RESULTS

It’s always great to see our juniors not only taking part but putting in brilliant performances to finish at the business end in the results. This is your reward for the hard work you put in during the week at training.

Latest Results: Arncliffe Gala Junior Fell Race & Junior Street Race – August

Our juniors have been in action recently in both fell and road races.

Briony and Curtis Holt continue to perform very well in the latest round of the BOFRA fell races at the Arncliffe Gala. Briony competing in the U12 race finished 3rd girl. Curtis finished 10th boy in the U14 race.

Tom and Daniel Bradley took to the road to compete in the last race of the Junior Street Race Series at Horwich. In the 1 mile race Tom finished 4th boy with Daniel coming home 11th boy.
