Brrr…it’s been a chilly weekend with sub-zero temperatures and plenty of snow. Winter, it seems, is finally here. Not a problem for us – we are a truly hardy bunch. An excellent set of results at the Clayton-le-Moors fixture in the Mid Lancs Leagues just goes to show there’s snow holding us back!
Saturday 16 January
The Hebden
A half dozen Clayton-le-Moors Harriers took part in the Hebden. This is a challenge event that offers a choice of a 15 mile or 22 mile route and is organised by the Long Distance Walkers Association. The event is a firm favourite with runners and walkers alike and regularly sells out.
Conditions were excellent for this year’s event being nicely crisp and frosty. Neil Hardiman said he barely got his feet wet. All of our runners did the longer challenge.

Stanbury Splash
The Soreen Stanbury Splash race is celebrated its 33rd birthday on 17th January 2016 and prides itself on with being associated with Soreen. The 7 mile race is affectionately known as the Soreen Malt Loaf Run to runners young and old who just love the fruity taste of a Malt Loaf. Over the years the junior and senior races have introduced thousands of runners to the joys of fell running and seen superstars like Triathlon Olympians Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee; National and GB Internationals Ian Holmes, Robert Jebb, Tom Adams, Colin Donnelly, Jack Maitland, Mary Wilkinson, and Jo Buckley; and former World Champions Victoria Wilkinson and Carol Greenwood, make their mark in sport.
Snowy conditions did not deter a small but hardy group of our junior and senior runners from taking part in this popular early season race.
