Wednesday 4th December saw the second race in the Cannonball 5k race series, another chilly night greeted the runners with 9 brave Clayton harriers bracing themselves against the elements.
Wheelchair Athlete Anthony Gotts once again leading the field away from the start, Tom Brewster lead the Clayton men’s team home, claiming 3rd place in front of a strong finishing Nick Gaskell (4th and 1st MV40) and consistent Chris Holdsworth (5th) to take the men’s team prize for the second week in a row.
The Ladies also had a fantastic run out, Junior runner Alice Pier leading the seniors home in 28th (also 1st FU18) followed by returning superstar Gayle Whittaker (33rd) and Deputy Ladies Road Captain Rebecca Rawcliffe (35th) securing the Ladies team prize and Clayton’s domination over the team event.
Also out in force for Clayton Harriers were George Pier (14th and 1st MU18) and Media Manager Wayne McIntosh (50th) completing another excellent run out for the club.

Race 3 of the series is on Weds 11th December; everyone will be keeping their fingers crossed for a hat-trick for the Men’s team prize, a second ladies team prize and some more strong runs from our ever-improving juniors!
